Our dental hygienists are highly trained, skilled professionals. At our West London practice, both hygienists are also qualified dental therapists, able to offer a broad range of care.
They see many of our patients and are the front line support in maintaining a high level of oral health. At a practice where preventative dentistry matters a great deal, our hygienists are key staff members.
The cleaning, scaling and polishing services they provide improve appearance and prevent gum disease, or tooth decay. Hygienists also play a further vital role, by identifying symptoms at an early stage.
This ensures you receive prompt support from a suitable dentist, helping to reduce treatment, costs, or discomfort and to bring a better outcome.
Your hygienist may then offer continued support, to speed recovery, or prevent issues recurring. Your dental health is supported by a hygienist’s ability to share useful dental, or lifestyle advice.
Support For All
Hygienists work with patients of all ages. For children, they might offer treatment such as fissure sealants, for older patients, they can help to explain the changes our teeth and gums go through in later years.
Advice on diet and nutrition is available to every patient, an area closely linked to tooth decay. Ways that patients can help to improve their own oral health will be discussed, in as much detail as you wish.
Alongside information and advice, dental hygienists can offer supportive treatment, such as anti-bacterial gels. They may take dental x-rays, for their own treatment, or to assist with referral to a dentist.
The prevention of, or recovery from periodontal disease is another area where dental hygienists are important. Through cleaning, advice and working with you on a personal plan, to fit with your lifestyle.
The Elgin Dental Plan includes sessions with our hygienists, as we believe every patient should attend. Hygiene treatment is not simply for perfect teeth, this is much more about meeting your personal needs.
Hygienists spend time with our patients and are exceptionally supportive. They are happy to work with people who are particularly anxious, have medical issues, or require high levels of care.
For certain specialised dental treatment, hygienists can be more experienced than many dentists. They are committed professionals, often with an ability to help their patients relax during treatment and enjoy the benefit.
You are welcome to contact us for further information, or to arrange a hygienist visit, we promise you will be made welcome.
